A group of Hispanic men and women were participants in a recent study involving a sixteen week strength training program which resulted in dramatic improvements in glucose control that are comparable to taking medication for diabetes.

Heart Health Improvements

The American Heart Disease now recommends that strength training be an integral part of Cardiac Rehab programs.  This comes after evidence that heart disease risk decreases when the body is lean, and patients not only gained strength and flexibility when lifting weights, but also gained aerobic capacity.
